Activities on the Farm
Morning Animals Chores - Chores may include (depending on time of year) feeding all of the animals, milking the sheep, putting the sheep out to pasture, walking the goats on a leash out to their pasture, wrangling escapee chickens, and collecting chicken eggs. If you would like to participate, meet Farmer Suzy up in the barnyard area. If you are interested in participating in the farm animal chores please check your “Check-in Email” for the start time. Chore times and chore activities change depending on the time of year.
Natural Playground - We have a newly built natural playground with a sand pit, see-saw, caves and more. Out in the flat grassy area in front of the cabins, you can enjoy playing a game of cornhole, a picnic at our picnic table, or a fire in our fire pit.
Take a Garden Tour or Workshop - Depending on the season, we offer garden tours, Sourdough workshops (offered year round), and Cheesemaking workshops. Check out the tours and workshops section of our website for more details.
Visit with the Farm Animals - If you are not interested in participating in farm chores, you are also welcome to go visit with the farm animals at any time during the day. Please remember not to feed the animals or enter any animal pens without permission from a farmer.
Visit our Farm Stand - We have a little farm stand set up in our Event Barn. The farm stand is on the honor system. Either checks, cash, Venmo or credit card (if you booked with us directly) are accepted. We have fresh eggs, produce and dairy products (availability and variety is dependent on the season). We also have local maple syrup, other locally made products and Fat Sheep Farm merchandise on display. If you are interested in purchasing any of our merchandise please contact Suzy or Todd. Since the farm stand is on the honor system, it is alway open!
Field Walk: “Rocky’s Road” is our dog Rocky’s favorite morning walk. This path will take you around our vegetable field, as well as around our sheep pasture. Enjoy the tranquility on this 20 minute (about 1/2 mile) walk around the farm. Please be aware that the sheep fence is electric. Please do not touch it.
Forest Walk: We have a lovely one mile trail through our woods, which is great for summer strolls or snowshoe treks in the winter. Follow along the path by the wood fenced pasture (past the animal barn), then keep going straight into our woods. It’s a very wide path and easy to follow. You’ll exit the woods at the bottom of our field. Highly recommended by Rocky for your pup, as well.
Stargazing and Fireflies - On a clear night the stars are pretty amazing any time of year. Take a minute to go outside and enjoy the quiet night sky. In June and July (depending on the year), as well as the stars, you can enjoy watching the fireflies dancing around in the fields at night.
Campfire - We have a new fire pit down by the lawn games and picnic table. We can provide you with everything that you need for making a fire.
Winter Sledding - On a snowy winter day, step right outside of your cabin and start sledding down the hill. If you forgot your sleds, we have sleds for you to borrow in the entrance of the animal barn. Feel free to borrow them, and please return them when you are done.
